Gardening is a challenge on our plot of land (no pun intended). The soil is red clay. The area is wooded, and we have to choose shade-loving varieties of plants, as nothing gets direct sun for very long each day. The deer eat almost everything, and what they don’t eat, the rabbits devour.
But every year we always have something beautiful that does flourish and grow. One year it was the cosmos by the fence.
Another year it was the bee balm that grew along the driveway.
Some years the pink dogwood in the back garden blooms in profusion, and sometimes there are only two or three blossoms.
