The travel theme last week, sponsored by “Where’s My Backpack?,” was mountains.  (I’m a little late with my posting.)   http://wheresmybackpack.com/2013/02/15/travel-theme-mountains/

The southern Appalachian Mountains feature the highest waterfall in the Southeastern United States.  Amicalola Falls (which means tumbling waters in the Cherokee language) cascades 729 feet.  The trail to the falls leads to the top of Springer Mountain which is the southernmost point on the 2,200 mile-long (3,500 km) Appalachian Trail that runs from Georgia to Maine.
