View from the prison

Seriously.  This glorious view is from the training center at Lee Arrendale State Prison which houses 1400 female convicts in Northeast Georgia.

Why was I there? At a prison!?

Beginning in January the prison will be the site of a pilot project, a high school that will grant young inmates a diploma, not a General Education Diploma but an actual high school diploma, a diploma that will help selected inmates go on to college or obtain a decent job after they are released from prison.  I will be teaching there for the duration of the pilot project.  I’ll keep you informed…

    1. Thank you. The teachers were handpicked for this project, as were the students. One prisoner was transferred from a prison in the southern part of our state to this prison in the north just so she could participate and finish high school. I m very honored to be chosen for this.
