It’s been ages since I wrote about any of the stories in the police blotter of our small-town weekly newspaper. There just haven’t been many funny stories lately. But one this week was amusing, especially the news reporter’s comment at the end of the police report:
A deputy (shopping) at a convenience store about 11 p.m. noticed another customer whose pants fell when the man opened a cooler door. The man pulled up his pants, made a purchase, then went out to his truck and got in.
The deputy went over to talk with him, and the man said he was having a diabetic issue. He was drinking milk he had purchased at the store, but the deputy noted the odor of an alcoholic beverage. The man said he had not had anything alcoholic to drink and agreed to blow into the alco-sensor.
Another deputy arrived, and the man got out of his truck to talk. He provided his drivers license, and his pants fell down again. He retrieved his pants and said he had had a couple of beers at 8 p.m. The man gave some additional breath samples which registered at .168 and .185, so he was arrested for DUI (driving under the influence).
And the final comment in the newspaper article …
There was no report of whether he was given a belt at the Detention Center.
You gotta love living in a small town!
