The lighthouse at St. Augustine, Florida rises 165 feet above sea level. Visitors to this structure (which is the oldest surviving brick structure in the city) can climb 219 steps up the spiral staircase to the top. We didn’t climb up; I’m fairly sure we wouldn’t have made it. We stayed at the bottom and I photographed other, younger folks climb up. In the last two photos, if you look closely, you can see people leaning on or peeking over the rail.
