Song Lyric Sunday Theme: Burn/Fire/Flame- “Oak Fire”

Oak fire running through my brain
Everybody looks just about the same

Lee Michaels

Oak Fire, written by Lee Michaels, was included on his album “5th,” released in 1971.  He is best known for Do You Know What I Mean and Can I Get a Witness, both of which also were released in 1971.

I’ve always liked this song, even though I really have no idea what it means.  The lyrics are not available online.  Believe me, I know. I’ve spent way too much time searching for them.  So I typed them up myself and may have a perfect example of misheard lyrics.  LOL  If anyone wants to correct me, especially on the part about the nose, feel free…

Oak fire running through my brain
Everybody looks just about the same
Oak fire running through my mind
Everybody, everybody’s alright
Everybody’s alright

Oak fire running through my brain
Everybody looks just about the same
Oak fire running through my mind
Everybody, everybody’s alright
Everybody’s alright

I don’t know, I know
Though my nose, my nose is going to go (?)
But it just doesn’t matter
Long as there, there is laughter
Oh, I know, my nose is going to go (?)

Oak fire running through my brain
Everybody looks just about the same
Oak fire running through my mind
Everybody, everybody’s alright
Everybody’s alright

I don’t know, I know
Though my nose, my nose is going to go (?)
But it just doesn’t matter
Long as there, there is laughter
Oh, I know, my nose is going to go (?)

  1. That is so weird, as I searched for the lyrics also and there were a lot of websites that said they don’t have them. I am sure what you have is very close, as he has a distinctive voice that is not hard to understand. Great song, glad to have you here.
