Festival of Leaves, 2019 – Week 1 – Red Maple

Again this autumn, Dawn at The Day After is hosting the weekly Festival of Leaves challenge. She lives in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, and unlike here in Georgia, the leaves there are beginning to change colors nicely.

There’s not much going on here. We are having one of the hottest Septembers on record, and the rainfall has been so sparse that we are considered to be in moderate drought conditions. Our red maple, which usually turns brilliant colors, is mostly still green but is dropping brown leaves. Nonetheless there are a few red leaves to be seen…

You can see more autumn leaves or join the challenge here.

  3. It’s pretty hot and dry here too but it’s early. Maybe it will be a late autumn, beautiful November colors!
