Greeting the Morning

Lately, on these bracing cold mornings, I’ve been enjoying my second cup of coffee outside. Still dressed in my pajamas, I put on a cozy warm robe and take my coffee out onto the back deck if it’s not rainy or wet or onto our “rocking chair front porch” if it’s raining. It’s become a lovely morning routine, one to which I look forward.

This morning it was a chilly 36 degrees (2 degrees Celsius), and because things were still wet from recent rains, I went onto the front porch. (Whether I’m on the porch or the deck, no one can see me in my pajamas and robe because we are separated from neighbors by woods.)

I had my phone with me and took this photo of the top of our River Birch against the morning sky…

But when I saw the moon, I had to get my camera and capture, with some difficulty, not only the waning moon through the trees but also the little bit of sunrise that could be seen from our house…

“When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.” (Marcus Aurelius)

I’ve seen the moon around 6am here when I went to the garden to sweep the yard. It was shining bright. I don’t get around to admire it at night since I don’t usually go out. Love your photo and the silhouette shots.

    1. Thank you, Arlene. I don’t usually go out at night either, so I was glad to be able to photograph the moon in the morning.

    1. Thank you! When I was working I didn’t have the time to enjoy the mornings. I’m glad I can enjoy them now.
